Product Description:
Utkarsh 542 Carrot Seeds produce healthy carrot plants with crisp, flavorful roots, making them ideal for fresh homegrown use. Well-suited to cool and mild Indian conditions, the variety can be grown in home gardens, kitchen gardens, pots, and deep grow bags. With loose soil, adequate sunlight, and consistent moisture, you can enjoy a fresh carrot harvest.
Key Features:
- Packet contains: Utkarsh 542 Variety Carrot 1-Pack Seeds (2gm). (Raw, Traditional Seeds, Non-Hybrid, 100% Pure & Desi Strain, Locally Adapted, and GMO-Free)
- Season of sowing: September to February; best suited to cool and mild weather conditions.
- Mode of sowing: Direct sowing is recommended. Sow seeds about 0.5–1 cm deep directly in loose soil, raised beds, pots or deep grow bags. Avoid transplanting, as carrots develop best when grown directly in their final location.
- Germination time: 7–14 days.
- Sunlight: 5–7 hours of sunlight per day.
- Soil Type: Loose, fertile and well-drained sandy-loam or loamy soil rich in organic matter. Avoid compact, heavy or stony soil to encourage straight and well-shaped roots.
- Watering: Water regularly and moderately to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during root development. Avoid both prolonged dryness and waterlogging.
- Harvesting: Approximately 60–90 days after sowing, depending on growing conditions and the desired root size. Harvest when the roots are well-developed, firm and tender.
- Blooming Period: Carrots generally flower in the second growing season if left unharvested. For root production, they are normally harvested before flowering.
- Planting Period: September to February.
- Expected Plant Height: Approximately 30–50 cm above the soil, with the edible root developing below the soil surface.
- Growing Location: Outdoor kitchen gardens, home gardens, raised beds, balconies, terraces, pots and deep grow bags.
- Suitable For: Home gardening, kitchen gardens, terrace gardening, container gardening and beginner gardeners.
- Watering: Keep the soil evenly moist throughout the growing period, particularly during germination and root development. Water gently at the soil level and avoid excessive watering.
- Care Instructions: Use loose, deep and well-drained soil free from stones and hard clumps. Sow seeds directly and thin seedlings after germination to provide sufficient space for root development. Provide 5–7 hours of sunlight, remove weeds carefully and add well-decomposed compost or organic manure before or during cultivation. Avoid disturbing the developing roots and harvest when the carrots reach the desired size.
