Key Features:
- Packet contains: Utkarsh 545 Variety Cauliflower 1-Pack Seeds (400mg). (Raw, Traditional Seeds, Non-Hybrid, 100% Pure & Desi Strain, Locally Adapted, and GMO-Free)
- Season of sowing: September to January; best suited to cool and mild weather conditions.
- Mode of sowing: Start seeds in a nursery tray or seedbed. Transplant healthy seedlings when they are approximately 4–5 weeks old. Cauliflower can also be grown in large pots or grow bags.
- Germination time: 5–10 days.
- Sunlight: 5–7 hours of sunlight per day.
- Soil Type: Fertile, loose and well-drained loamy soil rich in organic matter. The soil should retain moisture without becoming waterlogged.
- Watering: Water regularly and moderately to maintain consistent soil moisture, particularly during curd formation. Avoid excessive watering and waterlogging.
- Harvesting: Approximately 60–90 days after transplanting, depending on growing conditions and variety. Harvest when the cauliflower head (curd) is firm, compact and white, before the individual flower buds begin to separate.
- Blooming Period: Cauliflower is normally harvested before flowering. If left unharvested, the curd eventually opens and develops into flowering shoots, generally during the warmer period around February to April.
- Planting Period: September to January.
- Expected Plant Height: Approximately 40–70 cm, depending on growing conditions and variety.
- Growing Location: Outdoor kitchen gardens, home gardens, raised beds, balconies, terraces, pots and grow bags.
- Suitable For: Home gardening, kitchen gardens, terrace gardening, container gardening and beginner gardeners.
- Watering: Keep the soil evenly moist throughout the growing period, especially during curd formation. Water at the base of the plant and avoid allowing the soil to become completely dry or waterlogged.
- Care Instructions: Use fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost or well-decomposed organic manure. Transplant healthy seedlings with adequate spacing for proper curd development. Provide 5–7 hours of sunlight, remove weeds regularly and maintain consistent soil moisture. Protect the developing curd from excessive heat where necessary, and harvest when the head is firm, compact and well-developed.
