Product Description:
Utkarsh 563 Sweet Corn Seeds produce healthy corn plants with tender, sweet, and juicy kernels, perfect for fresh homegrown use. Ideal for home gardens, kitchen gardens, and large containers, the variety performs well in warm Indian conditions. With adequate sunlight, moisture, nutrition, and timely harvesting, you can enjoy fresh and flavorful sweet corn at home.
Key Features:
- Packet contains: Utkarsh 563 Variety Sweet Corn 1-Pack Seeds (6gm). (Raw, Traditional Seeds, Hybrid, 100% Pure & Desi Strain, Locally Adapted, and GMO-Free)
- Season of sowing: January to April and June to September. In warmer regions, sowing can be adjusted according to local temperature and rainfall conditions.
- Mode of sowing: Direct sowing is recommended. Sow seeds about 2–3 cm deep directly in the soil, raised beds or large grow bags. Planting in blocks rather than a single row helps improve pollination.
- Germination time: 4–8 days.
- Sunlight: 6–8 hours of direct sunlight per day.
- Soil Type: Fertile, loose and well-drained loamy soil enriched with organic matter. Sandy-loam soil with good drainage can also be suitable.
- Watering: Water regularly and moderately to maintain consistent soil moisture, particularly during germination, flowering and cob development. Avoid waterlogging.
- Harvesting: Approximately 70–90 days after sowing, depending on growing conditions. Harvest when the cobs are well-filled and the kernels are soft, juicy and milky. For fresh sweet corn, harvesting at the right maturity stage is important for good taste and tenderness.
- Blooming Period: Generally begins around 45–60 days after sowing. Tassels appear first, followed by silks on the developing ears.
- Planting Period: January to April and June to September.
- Expected Plant Height: Approximately 1.5–2.5 metres, depending on growing conditions and variety.
- Growing Location: Outdoor kitchen gardens, home gardens, open gardens, raised beds and large grow bags with adequate space.
- Suitable For: Home gardening, kitchen gardens, terrace gardening, grow-bag cultivation and gardeners interested in growing fresh sweet corn.
- Watering: Maintain consistent soil moisture throughout the growing period, especially during tasseling, silking and cob development. Water at the base of the plants and avoid prolonged waterlogging.
- Care Instructions: Provide 6–8 hours of sunlight and use fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost or well-decomposed organic manure. Plant seeds in blocks for better natural pollination. Maintain adequate spacing, remove weeds regularly and provide consistent moisture. Harvest the cobs at the tender milk stage for the best sweetness and texture.
