Key Features:
- Packet contains: Utkarsh 546 Variety Beetroot 1-Pack Seeds (2gm). (Raw, Traditional Seeds, Non-Hybrid, 100% Pure & Desi Strain, Locally Adapted, and GMO-Free)
- Season of sowing: September to February; best suited to cool and mild weather conditions.
- Mode of sowing: Direct sowing is recommended. Sow seeds about 1–2 cm deep directly in loose soil, raised beds, pots or grow bags. Avoid transplanting to allow proper root development.
- Germination time: 5–10 days.
- Sunlight: 5–7 hours of sunlight per day.
- Soil Type: Fertile, loose and well-drained loamy or sandy-loam soil enriched with organic matter. Avoid hard, compact or stony soil for better root development.
- Watering: Water regularly and moderately to keep the soil evenly moist. Avoid both excessive dryness and waterlogging.
- Harvesting: Approximately 55–75 days after sowing, depending on growing conditions and the desired root size. Harvest when the roots have developed well but are still tender and smooth.
- Blooming Period: Generally 10–14 weeks after sowing if the plant is allowed to mature beyond the normal harvesting stage. For root production, beetroot is normally harvested before flowering.
- Planting Period: September to February.
- Expected Plant Height: Approximately 30–50 cm above the soil, with the edible beetroot developing below the soil surface.
- Growing Location: Outdoor kitchen gardens, home gardens, raised beds, balconies, terraces, pots and grow bags.
- Suitable For: Home gardening, kitchen gardens, terrace gardening, container gardening and beginner gardeners.
- Watering: Maintain consistent soil moisture throughout the growing period, particularly while the roots are developing. Water at the base of the plants and avoid stagnant water.
- Care Instructions: Use loose, fertile and well-drained soil for proper root formation. Sow seeds directly and thin the seedlings after germination to provide sufficient space for each beetroot to develop. Provide 5–7 hours of sunlight, remove weeds regularly and add compost or well-decomposed organic manure as needed. Maintain even moisture and harvest when the roots reach the desired size.
