- Season of sowing: June to September and January to March; suitable sowing time may vary depending on the local climate.
- Mode of sowing: Direct sowing is recommended. Sow seeds about 2–3 cm deep directly in the soil, raised beds or large grow bags. Provide a trellis or sturdy support for the climbing vines.
- Germination time: 5–10 days.
- Sunlight: 6–8 hours of direct sunlight per day.
- Soil Type: Fertile, loose and well-drained loamy or sandy-loam soil enriched with organic matter. Avoid waterlogged soil.
- Watering: Water regularly and moderately to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during flowering and pod development. Avoid excessive watering.
- Harvesting: Approximately 60–90 days after sowing, depending on growing conditions. Harvest pods when they are young, tender and green. Regular harvesting encourages continued pod production.
- Blooming Period: Generally begins around 6–8 weeks after sowing, followed by repeated flowering and pod formation.
- Planting Period: June to September and January to March.
- Expected Plant Height: Approximately 1.5–3 metres or more when grown with suitable climbing support.
- Growing Location: Outdoor kitchen gardens, home gardens, raised beds, terraces, large grow bags and gardens with trellis support.
- Suitable For: Home gardening, kitchen gardens, terrace gardening, container gardening and gardeners with sufficient space for climbing vines.
- Watering: Maintain consistent soil moisture during active growth, flowering and pod development. Water at the base of the plant and avoid stagnant water around the roots.
- Care Instructions: Provide 6–8 hours of sunlight and install a sturdy trellis or support for the climbing vines. Use fertile soil enriched with compost or well-decomposed organic manure. Guide the vines onto the support as they grow, remove weeds regularly and maintain even moisture. Harvest young, tender pods frequently to encourage fresh pod production.
